Who ate all the pies?

Well I never. Apparently in Britain, we have a whole week devoted to pies. And that week, my friends, is upon us.

National Pie Week (yes, really) runs from 1st-7th March, and to help you celebrate (!) some of London’s finest pubs are really pulling out all the stops.

Renaissance Pubs will be showcasing comforting food & ale combinations including Cow Pie + Timothy Taylor’s Landlord; wild boar and chocolate + Battersea brewed Wandle Ale; and capital centric London pie (a 1950′s mix of mince and potato with a tomato ‘chessboard’ top) + a pint of London Pride.

A home-made pie and a pint will set you back just £10 – a pie-deal saving of over £5. As a week simply didn’t seem long enough, you will be able to take advantage of this fine discount from the 1st to the 14th of March in the elegant and friendly surroundings of The Avalon, The Stonhouse and The Abbeville in Clapham, The Bolingbroke in Battersea and The White Hart in Kennington.

Just don’t go eating all the pies….

The Canteen cookbook is out this week as well, so if you want to make your own yummy pies there are loads of recipes in there. I had the chicken and mushroom pie on Thursday night and it was delicious!!
