If you’ve got five minutes, why not brighten someone’s day?

I don’t know how many of you out there watch Russel Howard’s Good News on your telly boxes, but myself and The Gent do and we accompany every episode with howls of laughter. However, he ends each show with a positive little mention of something brilliant in our world.

This week, it was a website that encourages people to send a little post to a poorly child across the UK. I thought this was a brilliant idea and not just because I know people love getting mail (except of course those red bills that have been sitting on my desk for a while). This website, www.postpals.co.uk , gives the PO Box address of children who have been suffering from illness or those who have regularly visited hospital. I can think of nothing better to do with five minutes of my time than to send a teeny tiny person somewhere a gift or a letter with a photo, just to brighten their day a little.

I have experienced how brilliant you lovely lot are a supporting people through their tough times, but children need that little bit of sparkle when they haven’t had a childhood before having to deal with things some of us can only hope will never effect our own lives.
