If you are happy 100% of the time, you may as well stop reading and come back tomorrow.
If you are always grateful for everything you have, understand your emotions without trying and have all the answers, this post isn’t for you.
BUT. If you have ever wondered what it might take for you to be happy; if you have ever felt stuck in a rut, or if you just need cheering up, I can suggest a great little read for you.
Hector and the Search for Happiness is an intriguing, compelling book – about our hero (Hector), a Psychiatrist who finds himself disillusioned with helping people who don’t seem to be able to help themselves. So Hector goes on a journey, and takes us with him.
The style is original; Part self-help, part novel and strangely enough, partly written in the style of a childrens book (due to the simplistic language that disguises the adult themes) this book is an absolute joy to read. I’m not going to spoil it by telling you too much, but if you like a book that you can’t put down, with a story that amuses and makes you think plus a character you’d like to meet again, this one is most definitely for you.
The next Hector book is out in a few months I think, and all I can hope is that it as good as the first and doesn’t let us down.
