Hiho Hit The Spot With Mens Jewellery Range

Men’s jewellery. Let’s face it, it mostly consists of a watch and maybe the odd ring. As men, we’re not big on wearing lots of shiny stuff (apart from certain areas of East London, Mr T and the chav population…). So when we do think we need a bit of extra jewellery, then we need it to be functional, useful, stylish and most of all… manly.
That’s where Hiho come in. Silver jewellery design specialists, they know what they’re doing when it comes to the latest trends, and providing a product …

Food & Drink: The Albannach

Ah, Sunday. The quiet day of the week. The time for families and friends to get together and share a meal which, most commonly will be the great British institution; Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Those who know me, will know that I am a huge scotch whiskey fan, and those who don’t, do now! So imagine my delight when my brother announced that he heard of restaurant that combined the two. Albannach is located on Trafalgar Square and consists of three floors, each with its own specific purpose.
Upon arrival, …

Food & Drink: The Anthologist

Wanted: destination bar and restaurant to be all things to all people.  Must be funky and fresh, aspirational but affordable and cater impeccably for a diverse and fun-starved City clientele.
First impressions of The Anthologist are that this is a brief it is well-placed to fulfill.  With very little presence on the outside (not even much signage) it opens into a vast airy space, crammed full of complementary contemporary styles.  Exposed ceiling fixtures give it a light industrial feel in tune with its sister bars, The Refinery (Southwark) and The Parlour …

A Sushi experience

If there’s one good reason to visit YO! Sushi in Market place it has to be for the toilets.
One of only two places in London to have state of the art modern Japanese toilets – you have the pleasure of controlling your toilet and if you wish having a heated seat or massage as you do so!
After you’ve got over the excitement of the toilets you might actually want to sample the food.  And if you’ve never been before then you’re in for a treat.
The Market place YO! Sushi is …

Hair & Beauty: Lisa Shepherd – London

Hair style is the final tip-off whether or not a woman really knows herself. ~Hubert de Givenchy, Vogue, July 1985
Finding the right hair-stylist for you is bloody difficult. That elusive expert who knows exactly what length will suit you, which colours would look best, the cut that will make your cheekbones more striking or help disguise those few extra pounds.
In short, the right hairdresser is worth their weight in gold.
And until last week, I was still looking. I have visited some OK stylists. I have had some highly technical, …

Blow Me…

Blow Me…

I have too much to do and too little time. I can also admit to being a little bit lazy. So if someone offers to make my day a little easier, you can pretty much bet I’ll let them.
So, when I was invited in to the Karine Jackson salon in Covent Garden (conveniently near my office) for a super-duper budget blow-dry, I jumped at the chance. I booked in at lunchtime, and was happy to be greeted by my Stylist Deanna who immediately got to work on taming my locks. …

Mango, Brick Lane

Mango, Brick Lane

The 31st May saw the Cobra Mela take over the Vibe bar as part of the 10th Annual Brick Lane Curry Festival. The thought of curry and beer on a bank holiday was too much of a draw so a few of us took a trip down to Brick Lane.  While the best curry award was scrapped, 5 other categories where announced and winners declared. Mango Restaurant was one of those winners and seen as we were already on Brick Lane, we thought a visit was in order.
When we arrived, …

Food: Corrigans

I have been asked in the past why our reviews are often so positive, and I’d like to share the simple answer with you. We have enjoyed our experiences thus far. The Restaurants we visit are good. Some of them very good. And on occasion, they are wonderful.
Richard Corrigans latest restaurant, conveniently named Corrigans, fits perfectly into that wonderful category. Located on Upper Grosvenor Street in Mayfair, the location is perfect and the space itself is beautiful. Decor is interesting and contemporary; blue walls are complimented by feathered lampshades and …

Food and Drink: Browns, Covent Garden

I’ve never been entirely sure what I think about chain restaurants. We live in an age where, for many people, eating out is synonymous with large franchises: sure, there are still plenty of fabulous independent places, but you only have to take a walk down any high street (or any road in Central London) and you are assailed by a number of familiar logos, all fighting for your custom. Sadly, all too often such chains fail to deliver the goods they promise, with food that is overpriced and really nothing …

Nous adorons… Café du Marché

Nous adorons… Café du Marché

Tucked away in a quiet little side street near Farringdon tube is a fabulous little taste of France, and we were lucky enough to get ourselves a table. Café du Marché is three restaurants under one roof, Le Café, Le Grenier and Le Rendezvous. All of them offer the same level of sophistication and great ambiances, however Le Grenier serves an à la carte menu with …
