Quantum physicist, best-selling author, and broadcaster Jim Al-Khalili is joined by fellow physicist and Nobel Prize winner Kip Thorne. This talk is a chance to peek behind the curtain and get to know one of the best-known names in physics.
In his work, Kip is credited with the theory of wormholes and the possibility of time travel, and his research has advanced some of Albert Einstein's most intriguing ideas exploring gravitation and general relativity. Over the course of their discussion, we'll hear stories of Kip's life and work - from growing up in Utah and falling in love with astronomy to being awarded the Nobel prize to being catapulted into the Hollywood spotlight with his work as executive producer on the 2014 blockbuster 'Interstellar' - where the worlds of serious science and popular culture collided.
There will be plenty of enlightening anecdotes along the way, including Kip's famous wager with Stephen Hawking on the nature of black holes, and industry secrets revealed through his work with NASA.
Don't miss this opportunity to sit in a room with two of the greatest scientific minds of a generation.
