Over the last few weeks, lot’s of you have been kind enough to comment on my new Twitter avatar, and let me know how much you like the new, blonde me. Very, very kind, but in no way can I take the credit.
For that, we have to look to FOUR London, the 6 month old hair salon situated on Conduit Street, Mayfair.
The Salon is owned and run by four (see what they did there?) of London’s top female hair colourists - Brooke Bohan, Charlie Double, Denise Arnold and Maleeka Taher. These talented women have worked hard at London’s top establishments to learn their trade and have a total passion for what they do. So much so, that just before Christmas they decided to leave renowned Colourist Jo Hansford and go it alone. And so, FOUR London was born.
The first thing you notice about FOUR London, is the glamour. The Salon is gorgeous. The atmosphere is relaxed and buzzy, like you’ve walked into somewhere full of old friends. It’s kind of unusual for a London hairdressers, which are often full of ego – but here – the Directors are open, chatty, and ready to help.
Now. My hair, when I walked in to FOUR London for the first time, was drab. That’s the only word for it. I’d been dying it dark for ages, then had a round of highlights, but it had gone dull and mousey. So, what with it being Summer and all (you may not have noticed, but it is…) I wanted to go properly blonde again. If you’re going to visit some of the best Colourists in London, you may as well give them a challenge, right?
What I loved about FOUR London was the honesty. The consultation was excellent. Jenny, my Colourist, took me through various different colour options on an iPad (all very fancy) and the when we mutually decided on a colour, explained that it may take a couple of sessions to get me there, due to the residual dark dye on some of my hair. This was fine – you absolutely trust what these ladies are saying to you – they kind of exude confidence. So, I sat back, read my mags, munched on my delicious Chicken sandwich (they have an onsite chef preparing food at a small cost, including afternoon tea, which is incredible) and chit-chatted with Jenny while she foiled my extensive amount of hair.
A few hours later – we checked out the results – and LOVED it. My hair was creamy and natural looking, and I had that whole bouncy “just stepped out of the salon” feeling. However – and this is what I really love about FOUR – when we stepped into the light, Brooke noticed that some of the dark from my previous colour was showing through in some sections. So, they insisted I come back in and have those bits touched up, as they don’t like to let anyone get away looking anything less than perfect.
Now that, my friends, is Customer Service.
A couple of weeks later, I popped back in, and Jenny fixed these few problem (I say problem, I’d have never noticed them, it’s just their trained eye…) areas with no fuss, and it looks better than ever!
The girls at FOUR London all have a distinct pattern that they use when colouring, which means that when you return, they can always pick up the previous highlights, leaving your roots and colour looking natural and never stripy. It’s one of the things that sets them apart from other Salons – they really are experts at what they do and take a real pride in making sure everyone who leaves there leaves there smiling and looking absolutely fabulous.
As you can probably tell, I’m a huge fan, and would be really reluctant for anyone else to touch my highlights now. So yes, I will most definitely be back to FOUR London, and suggest you head along there too if you’re looking for a fantastic colour in a great Salon. The staff are fabulous, the results brilliant and you get a blinking awesome sandwich while you’re there too. What more could a girl want??!
