We love a quirky bar, and Barts, secreted away on Sloane Avenue, certainly fits that bill.
This super Speakeasy opened back in 2009 and is the brainchild of dream duo Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling, who also own Maggies, the fab 80′s themed bar on the Fulham Road. It’s notoriously kitsch, and definitely one of London’s worst kept secrets – but once you find it (just ask) – you really are in for a treat. Expect unique decor, innovative cocktails, the famous dress up box and this summer – the addition of London’s first ever Cuban Garden, bought to you in partnership with Havana Club Rum.
The garden will be a secret oasis away from the busy streets, decorated in plush velvet, silks and Latin-inspired hues of red, gold and brown. Lush palms, tropical plants and Havana Club Rum barrels and bottles will cover the surfaces, a proud reminder of the true home of the mojito for all guests to see. On certain nights a Buena Vista Social Club-inspired band will serenade guests as they sip their drinks, and they’ve even got a humidor housing a wide range of authentic cigars served at the perfect temperature.
With the weather as it has been the last couple of weeks, I cannot wait to check out this new little haven. Will report back as soon as we have!
