Jules Holland was on hand to help celebrate the opening of the latest Boisdale restaurant and Jazz club last week, right in the middle of Canary Wharf.
The evening started with a glass (or three) of delicious Perrier Jouët Champagne downstairs in the Oyster Lounge, followed by a selection of cocktails at the bustling bar. Bagpipes announced the start of dinner, and we were led upstairs to the luxurious dining space to enjoy an absolutely delicious meal, including Smoked Salmon, a perfectly cooked, melt-in-the-mouth Steak (no mean feat when serving banquet style for 100 or so guests) and a lovely cheese plate. After dinner came speeches by the likes of Boisdale’s owner, Ranald McDonald, then the main treat of the night – a live performance by Jazz star Ray Gelato.
The event, sponsored by City Index, was a huge success and the venue is set to go the same way. It’s a large space, but the decor and traditionalism lends itself to a homely feel. Deep reds and Boisdale’s signature tartan are tastefully apparent and wood panelling adorns the walls. The bar area is large enough to cope with the endless supply of Bankers that are bound to become regulars and the thousands of Whiskies on offer are sure to be a hit. Jules Holland is patron of Music so expect the absolute best Jazz nights in town with stars flown in from around the globe.
Most definitely worth the visit.
