You might have noticed that the TLLWTL team are out a fair bit.
This week alone, I’ve popped into Bungalow 8, Alto, Boujis (twice), Century, The Hospital Club and Public. There has been quite a bit of Vodka consumed. There has been a modicum of dancing. And all of this madness leaves a lady very, very hungry.
Luckily for me, I have discovered Maroush – an authentic Lebanese restaurant that serves amazing food and opens late – perfect for the early hours when you drag your tired feet away from the dancefloor and crave something more substantial than the trashy establishments you usually find open at that time of night.
Maroush have various venues around London. Last night, we visited Maroush V on Vere Street – one of the more upscale venues, with 210 seats across 3 floors. Downstairs, they have a dancefloor and live entertainment going on until the early hours, but it was late, we were hungry, so we concentrated solely on the food.
Now, this is not your usual kebab shop, by a long shot. The menu is extensive and the Shawarma sandwiches (we had chicken and prawn) were absolutely delicious – coated in spicy sauce, tender and extremely moreish. We had a table for four and the staff were friendly and efficient, understanding that at 2am no-one wants to wait ages, and overall it was a nice relaxed atmosphere, even at that time of night.
We finished off our first round at the table and decided to order a sneaky extra one to take-away (told you they wee moreish). Again, it came out piping hot, delicious and in n time at all. Lovely stuff.
I must admit our friend picked up the bill for this one so I have no idea how much it came to, but the menu is here and as you can see, it’s all very reasonable. Maroush isn’t just for late night eating either – it’s open daily for breakfast (some venues) and lunch.
I’ve mentioned our late night pit-stop to a few fellow Londoners, all of whom have had great things to say about Maroush. If you find yourself a little bit peckish late at night in the Capital – I’d definitely head here. I will be back!
