It’s not easy to launch a new daily newspaper these days. It’s certainly not easy to launch a new daily and have it become hugely successful almost overnight. But The Independent have managed it with i, the first daily to be launched in the UK for 25 years. The newspaper has see an astonishing 30% rise in circulation month on month since it’s launch last October. Last night, Editor-in-Chief Simon Kelner invited some friends of the paper along to Century on Shaftesbury Avenue to celebrate 100 editions of i, which has been described as a ‘Journalistic Innovation’.
We sipped on Champagne, nibbled on delicious canapes, mingled with Amanda Donohoe, Dom Joly, Gok Wan, Nancy Dell’Ollio, Janet Street-Porter and listened to tunes from Celebrity DJ Sam Young.

i is a great addition to the daily news in this country, avoiding the gossip and celebrity stories that so many focus on and getting straight to the important issues – and all for 20p.
