I recently wrote about my new found love for Polpo on Beak Street in Soho, the glorious restaurant from Russell Norman, so I could not be more excited about the eagerly awaited launch of his latest venture, Spuntino (meaning “little snack”).
The new restaurant follows the “small plate” theme of Polpo and Polpetto, but takes influences from New York diners, rather than the Italian bacaro theme of the first two restaurants. Expect to find dishes like Mac and Cheese, Meatball Sliders and Soft Shell Crab on this menu. My mouth is watering already.
Russell Norman opens third restaurant, Spuntino
The 25 seat restaurant has been designed by Russell Norman himself and features a pewter bar with glazed brick and mosaic walls. He says; “I’ve been thrilled by the tremendous excitement that has greeted Polpo. It’s clear that London has an appetite for fun dining. I hope everyone will find Spuntino just as exciting, and maybe a little surprising.”
The restaurant launches today at 61 Rupert Street, Soho, London, W1. There’s no phone and no reservations so it’s a case of turn up and hope to get a table – and we cannot wait to visit!
