The 83rd Academy Awards: Oscars for the Best Dressed!

Words by JJ

The Stars were all out for the 2011 Oscars last night, but some were most definitely shining brighter than others…

Here are our awards for best (and worst) gowns on the world’s longest red carpet last night.

WE LOVE…

Gwyneth Paltrow.

Gwynny can do no wrong at the moment. We loved her recent performance in Glee, and this stunning gold number from the Calvin Klein Collection was the absolute perfect choice for last nights glitzy ceremony. Gwyneth credits her amazing body to Personal Trainer Tracy Anderson – one of the many reasons we’ve already been out and bought the DVD!

Mila Kunis

Now I’m not going to lie. I would usually detest this colour on anyone. Lilac reminds me of my Nan. But Mila Kunis is something special, and this Ellie Saab gown looks incredible on her. It drapes perfectly and the colour looks phenomenal (although I personally wouldn’t imagine this shade looking quite so good on you or I, to be fair.) Beautiful.

Michelle Williams

Wow. I adore this Chanel cap-sleeved floor-sweeper, but even more so I love Michelle’s Edie Sedgewick makeover. Simple, yes, but who said simple couldn’t be stunning. LOVES it, from tip to toe!

The Not-So-Hot

Jennifer Hudson

Pictures of Jennifer Hudson in purple body-con (with her far-too-cute son) had me gasping earlier in the week. Her new figure is to die for. This outfit, however? Not so much. Tangerine madness. Shame. Apart from the vomit inducing dress, the girl is looking GOOD!

Nicole Kidman

The shock of the night for me. Mrs Urban nearly always pulls it out of the bag – but last night let the side down dramatically. Perhaps her stylist had the night off? Perhaps one of her oddly names kids spilt baby-food on her proper outfit as she was leaving? Who knows. Disappointing Ms K. Unflattering. Unsightly. Unimpressed.

Scarlett Johansson

OK, so I know lace is on trend. But this plum creation by D&G just isn’t doing it for me at all. See through in places, ugly in others. Must try harder S-Jo. Please?

So – that’s what we thought. Do you agree? Let us know your thoughts below….
