Five Favourite Things…#1

I’m excited. From now on, every week I will be writing about five things that I consider to be the best of the week. It could be anything from food and drink to places, products and performances…and no they don’t all have to begin with P. If I love it, it’s going in!

So here goes…week #1

Best Dress
I can’t buy dresses like normal people anymore. You may have already seen that I set myself the challenge to only buy clothes from charity shops for the next year. Insane I know…but a lot of fun! You can read more about that over at www.thatcharitystyle.com. Anyway, I digress. The fact that I can’t buy things in the standard way doesn’t stop me looking…and the dress I have fallen for this week is the Kate Moss Iconic Panther/Eagle mesh dress at Topshop. It would appear I’m not the only one…as it has pretty much sold out! Not surprising as it is amazing, as you can see below. OK, so the bra situation may be somewhat of an issue but when a dress is this nice – you work it out. Unfortunately there are only limited sizes left at Topshop now for £100. However, those sneaky eBayers have already taken advantage of the supply/demand situation and are selling them off for £150! I think it’s worth it but would advise Topshop to get more stock in pronto…

Best Song
My favourite song at the moment is Rihanna’s Man Down. I have been listening to her album on her website, as somewhat strangely the whole thing is available free on there. I promised myself I would save listening until Christmas, when someone surely has to buy me her new album, but I cheated and now I can’t stop listening to the reggae infused Man Down. It is amazing! Take a listen at www.rihannanow.com. Definitely the perfect music to get you in the mood for a night out. And… if you fall slightly in love with Rihanna, like myself, then check out her stunning American Music Awards performance from a few weeks ago too.

Best Meal
I think the best restaurants are the ones that leave you thinking about them days, or even weeks later. This is the case for Haozhan, an amazing oriental restaurant in China Town. I went there a few weeks with some colleagues for lunch and it was AMAZING. It takes a lot to impress me in restaurants, I am very quick to criticise and won’t take any rubbish! I had spring rolls to start and then a Red Thai Curry, simple but fabulous. The food was tasty, the service quick (which is what you need at lunch) and the atmosphere calm. I am going back next week for some more…yum! Visit http://www.haozhan.co.uk/ for more info.

Best X Factor Contestant
Everyone is talking about X Factor at the moment- who should go, who they want to win. Personally, I love Cher. There I said it – I’m not afraid to admit it! Cher MUST win. She is the only one I have looked forward to watching every week. In fact, bar her I have found the whole thing pretty dull this season. She’s the only one that actually performs and does something different every week. And the best thing of all is that they have sorted her eyebrows!!! I will admit of course she does not have the strongest voice in the competition but she is the only one who holds my interest. I am sick of what is basically a re-run every week of the same thing from the others. Cher to win! Everyone with me?! (… I know Cheryl is)

Best Film
OK, so it’s an oldie but SUCH a goodie. I watched Father of the Bride 2 on Saturday night. I was very upset at having watched all my sky+ programmes but I turned over and sighed with a ‘might as well watch this, nothing else on the 500 stupid channels’. I have seen it before but now I have fallen in love! It made me feel so warm inside. It is such easy watching and hilarious. Whoever created the Frank (pronounced Fronk) character is a genius. I loved Father of the Bride 1 but I actually think this is better. Amazing.

So that is my round-up for the week. Do you have something you think could feature in Five of the Best? If you think it could be the best then contact me through my blog www.thatcharitystyle.com.

Until next time…

I thought I was the only one who still loved the Father of the Bride movies! Have to disagree with you though – the first one is definitely better – even with the bride wearing trainers under her huge early 90s gown.
