Sorry map geeks, this is not a post for you. But it is an excellent alphabetised guide to what’s hot at the moment in London Town.
A is for arthouse – check out Curzon cinemas across London for a range of fascinating films.
B is for boots, seeing as the weather has decided to turn on us. I’m loving this pair from Topshop.
C is for Clippykit make-up bags – now you can be organised AND creative!
D is for Dirty Martini in Covent Garden – delicious cocktails in a swanky setting – what more could a girl want?
E is for exhibitions – check out Grace Kelly at the V&A and Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, coming soon to the British Museum.
F is for friends. Are you setting aside enough time to spend with the people you love?
G is for Gainsbourg, which allows us to peep into the life of the popular French singer.
H is for Hyde Park – go on, make the most of any last sunny spells before it’s too late!
I is for ice cream vans – because we’ll miss them and their jingly music over the winter months.
J is for jumpers. Wrap up warm in cosy knits like this one from Urban Outfitters.
K is for the Klaxons, whose second album, Surfing the Void, is out this week.
L is for lips – and this A/W, the darker the better. Time to go gothic once more.
M is for maxi dresses – still going strong as we approach autumn. I adore this striped number by Just Female at ASOS.
N is for new arrivals – check out what’s new at Accessorize for this season.
O is for orchids. Flowers are a great way to convey so many different messages; treat someone to these gorgeous cut orchids from M&S and you’ll be guaranteed to make their day.
P is for Pearl Lowe. Keep your eyes peeled for her new A/W collection at Peacocks.
Q is for quirky. Playing cards and bizarrely dressed mannequins at the Soho FrostFrench boutique recently indicated that Mad Hatter mania is still just as infectious as ever.
R is for Rouge Noir nail polish from Chanel. Still going strong after so many years.
S is for Shoes, a new show at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, celebrating all things footwear related.
T is for tomberries – teeny-tiny tomatoes to brighten up any salad. Available in Sainsburys and Tescos.
U is for umbrellas. A floral Cath Kidston number is a fun way to keep the rain at bay.
V is for violet. Pop down to the Whiskey Exchange at Vinopolis, and treat yourself to a bottle of violet liqueur for adding to cocktails. Trust me, it’s a winner!
W is for walking. If you’re going a short distance, why not walk instead of hopping on the tube or bus? You’ll get to see some lovely sights and it will help keep you toned, too.
X is for X-Factor. Who wasn’t hooked by Gamu’s recent performance?
Y is for yeti chic. You saw it at Chanel first. You swore you’d never wear it. But come January we’ll be a nation of snug warm yetis.
Z is for zzzz. Because no matter what cosmetics are developed, we still all need our beauty sleep. Try drinking a warm milky drink before bed, or putting a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow.
