Dance is everywhere at the moment. For the last couple of years in particular, it has become a more and more popular past time to take in a dance show. With TV shows like Britain’s Got Talent being dominated by dancing winners, with George Sampson in 2008 and Diversity in 2009 the evidence, it’s a clear sign that the UK is going dance-crazy. New films such as Step Up 3D are just another sign of the growing craze. Maybe it’s because we all wish we could move our bodies in such an intricate and exciting way, perform a show that makes people so excited, or maybe we all just wish that we could do ‘The Worm’ without smacking our faces into the ground…
So if you can’t do it, you can at least watch and enjoy, and that’s exactly what you can do this weekend with the Barclays Live dance competition coming to Leicester Square this Saturday, 31st July. This nationwide competition has been stopping off at various locations across the country and now it’s the capitals turn to show their body-popping best. The competition is open to anyone, from individuals or duos to groups and troupes. Finish in the top 5? You’ll go onto the website, www.barclayslive.co.uk where the public will vote for their favourite act and whoever they choose will pick up a cool £1000.
If that’s not enough for you, Strictly Come Dancing hunk Kiwi Brendan Cole will be part of the judging panel on the day and
running a dance master class, so ladies get yourselves down there to catch a glimpse him. Brendan himself had this to say about the day: “The Barclays Live competition is a great opportunity for talented dancers in London and I am really looking forward to experiencing some fabulous performances. If you haven’t entered the competition already, make it the very next thing you do, and I’d like to invite anyone in the area on Saturday 31st July to pop down to Leicester Square to join me for a whole host of dancing fun.”
Sure that all sounds good, you’re thinking, I will have to get myself down there. Well that’s all well and good, but Barclays haven’t stopped there. They’re also hosting an interactive online tool with Brooke Milliner. Not only is he the choreographer and captainof former World Hip Hop Dance Champions, Plague, but he also recently starred in hit film StreetDance 3D. You can check it out here http://www.barclayslive.co.uk/interactive.php?id=b13g1jcx9 for full details.
