East London parties through The Blitz!

c/o The Blitz Party group on Facebook by Anya Belikova

There are very few times where we get to be proud of our little island and even fewer times when we get celebrate something as a nation. Alright, so we have sport but as far as I’m concerned that’s only good to oggly fitties (have you seen Jenson Button?  Be still my heart…) and to drink lots with everyone celebrating the same thing for a change.

We do, of course, have the World Cup coming up (see blogs by The Gent) which I have to admit I love to get involved with, but I am a little bored of the marketing for it all over my telly box and the wretched tournament hasn’t even started yet.

So what if I told you there was a secret event happening in London where we are allowed to be patriotic, drink to our hearts content and dance the night away, all whilst wearing a pair of rather sexy seamed stockings? If that doesn’t tempt you enough then what if I tell you that at this very same event you can listen to live music, oggle sexy men in PROPER uniforms and order your drinks from a sand-bagged bar? Thought that might interest you…

On 4th June I urge you to go along to the next Blitz Party for a special D Day celebration. In a large, very well hidden East London air raid shelter the brilliant people at Essence Communications bring you a night of revels and fancy dress plucked straight from the 1940′s. Everyone makes an incredible effort with their outfits, encompassing the unrivalled sophistication and glamour of the fourties. Embrace the neighbourly spirit by meeting soldiers, sailors, Wrens and housewives all having a jolly good knees up around a bar made entirely of sandbags and dancing to a live  swing band which fit the mood of the evening perfectly. You can buy bottles of drinks exactly as they would have looked at the time and it really brings to life an England I could only previously have imagined.

Tickets can be bought by clicking here, so get bidding on eBay for the perfect 1940′s fascinator and head on over to celebrate at this unique D Day celebration.
