I love the sunshine. At the first hint of the bright little ball in the sky I search for my flip flops and create a schedule for which pair of sunglasses to wear on which day. I often find myself skipping down the street and dodging wasps as I go. However, this week as I was skipping an unsightly phenomenon occurred.
My belly wobbled.
All by itself.
Now this is most distressing to someone who has led an active life and it will probably please my mother greatly that I have decided to address this situation. (However, I do not think I will be getting a fringe cut no matter how hard you try Mum.) I am sure that my diet of petrol station sandwiches and Oreo cookies during the rehearsal process for Othello has not helped, but now I am ready to slim down and be proud of the way I look if I am lucky enough to get myself to a beach this Summer. Even if it is Brighton. In fact, especially if it IS Brighton. I ruddy love that place.
Now, before I continue I should point out that I know I am not “fat”, however I know that I am bigger than I would like to be, ie I would like to please fit into my skinny grey jeans please thank you please. So I have decided to diet and exercise on a much more regular basis and I figured that to give myself some more motivation I would try to offer any of you lovely readers some support and encouragement whilst I suffer.
So who’s with me? Let’s get healthy and work together to stay focused and positive! If you have thought about it, why not start today with me? After all it is Monday, the start of a new week and all that. So if your elvensies snack is not a piece of fruit or something healthy/with low calories go and swap it with someone else in the office that isn’t too bothered about losing weight.
I am willing to do many a ‘tried and tested’ diet regime, to give you a personal low down on which methods worked for me and which ones didn’t. When I mentioned this on Twitter I was presented with a plethora of suggestions, many of which I am sure to be adopting over the next few months;
“you should do this one!” - @CalamityCharls
“Don’t eat/drink anything after 5 o clock but cups of hot water with lemon, frankly hideous but it works” – @livsdarling
“Never go to bed hungry – you wont sleep properly and your resolve will falter.” – @Suziepooz
“cut out sugar and booze. Don’t worry about fat…sugar is the one…evil!” – @this_rocks
I would like to point out that I don’t recommend extreme dieting for anyone and I would suggest people always have a chat with their friends if they’re thinking about losing weight. Your friends are the people who love you exactly the way you are (and you are fabulous, by the way) but they are also the people who will keep you in check if you need help with keeping up with your regime and reign you in if you go too far.
Week One will start with me ditching the sugary snacks and drinks and reaching for some carrot sticks and a bottle of water
instead. A tip I have encountered before is that fizzy drinks are a huge cause of wobbly bellies, so even if you have Diet drinks, water will always be better for you. It’ll also give your skin a healthy glow and get rid of circles from under your eyes. That and a good nights sleep! I will also have a look at the alcoholic beverages with the lowest calories… as for me that will be a big down fall, considering I am prone to drinking pints.
So consider this entry one into ‘Teeny Tiny’s Diet Diary’ which I am hoping to bring to you weekly. Feel free to use the comments section below to offer words of wisdom, support for other people and to express any moments of weakness you are having so that we might help you. If we work together, ladies and gents, we can all feel as beautiful as we really are.
P.S If I have not at least set off to the gym when you are reading this, please give me a gentle kick up the bum, via Twitter. Ta.
