This little lady went to cupcake heaven, by Lorns

This little lady went cupcake mad…

I never win anything. Tell a lie, I did once win a talent show at Butlins when I was 7. I sang a rather inappropriate version of ‘where the boys are’ on the main stage and cried with joy when I was announced the winner. I was invited back for finals week to take part in the competition with all the other winners from the summer season. I was so excited when October came around. Then the law of sod struck and I got the measles and mum said we couldn’t go. Bummer.

Since then I have never won anything, apart from a bread maker, not great for someone with a wheat allergy. However, my luck changed last week. Courtesy of This Little Lady went to London, this little lady and her friend had a fabulous day out at The Ideal Home Exhibition, followed by a Mad Hatters Tea Party in a chocolate garden. Died and gone to heaven? I think SO!

The world of twitter has been good to me, and I also got to meet the fabulous @Emma_Cossey and her lovely mum. The first of my ‘met on twitter’ friends that I have met in real life, we clicked instantly over a love of cupcakes and champagne.

Ahh, cupcakes. Seriously divine. I am a big fan of cake, so to be fed free glittery cupcakes whilst wearing a silly hat and eyeing up the hot mad hatter was not hard work for this girl.

The exhibition itself was great fun. Instant gratification was achieved by lounging in the most wonderful day bed, a steal for a grand.

‘Where you gonna put it?’ asked my perturbed friend as I uttered the ‘forgive me visa for I have sinned’ prayer and considered buying one. ‘It can be my office?’ I replied hopefully, and for that moment I truly meant it. I almost shed a tear as my sidekick told me that no, I didn’t need that, or a chandelier, or a cupcake maker, and definitely not a Grandfathers clock.

After having to drag my friend away from the TV interiors man George, we hit rainy Earls Court and met with some friends for wine and chatter. It was great fun. I have been ill for ages and it was my first day out in what felt like forever. Looking down at my shopping bags, and my belly full of champagne and cupcakes, I realised that I may not be lucky in material winnings, but at that moment, surrounded by my friends in a crowded bar. I felt lucky.

Thanks for a great day TTLWTL. Now, where did I put the website for that day bed?
