Changes…

The last few weeks have been ripe with change.

The boy and I are making that difficult transition from being two single people, to one co-habiting couple. The quietness of the suburbs is a distant memory and reintroduction into life in London has been swift thanks to one flashing incident (not pretty) and a pick-pocket. Not in my top ten reasons for loving London…but it certainly makes life interesting.

I have also left behind a lot of friends, and I don’t just mean in distance. I made the conscious decision to have a huge life audit and remove any negative influences from my life. I trashed boxes of memories I’ve been carrying around forever when we moved, saving only a few handwritten notes from best friends and my beloved Grandparents. I deleted my whole facebook account, getting rid of all pictures of days gone by along with 600ish “friends”; My phone was one of the things that was pick-pocketed and I deliberately only re-installed the contact numbers of the people I really love; and I have closed the door on some lifelong relationships that were decidedly one way and unhealthy. I have had enough.

To some of you, this may seem harsh. Others will understand my reasons for having this huge Spring Clean. It was necessary for me to move on and be truly happy. And I think I’m going to be.

There are also huge changes being made here at TLLWTL. We’ll soon have a crack (or crackers!) team of Little Ladies roaming this city, searching out the best deals, reviewing the best venues and shows, letting you know the best places to be and generally being your best friend in London. You’ll see a couple of guest posts popping up over the next week or so, and soon I’ll be formally introducing you to the team…we may even have a few drinks to celebrate if you fancy coming to meet us. Details soon!

So…April is due to be an exciting month. I am ready for whatever the new season brings. I am really happy with my spring clean. OK – so it may not have included my house, but it’s made my life feel all sparkly again.

And that’s a very nice feeling indeed.

I did the same as you a while ago, and life it a lot easier when you don’t have those ‘frenemies’ around. Life is too short to waste on people who can’t be happy for you.

Under a year ago I deleted my facebook account, only in the last few months have I got another. This time it’s a nice smaller crowd and it’s great to have a spring clean and get rid of any negativity that’s getting you down.

I really enjoyed reading this as I have recently found myself in a very similar situation.
I ‘ve had a massive spring clean of my friends and feel so much better for it. I decided it was most definitely quality and not quantity that matters most to me. I’ve had a really hard time recently where I’ve needed to look to other people for support and it turned out I could count on one hand the friends that weren’t just my ‘fairweather’ friends. All these surplus others were mostly toxic relationships that just weren’t doing me any good.

Since I made that decision , I’ve had more time to focus on my true friends, my art, my poetry and other things that really matter in my life.

Your post is inspiring and I LOVE that you LOVE LONDON
