Last night, the Boy and I had the pleasure of checking out brand new Greek Street venue, DIU.
DIU is the latest boutique nightclub to hit the Central London scene and it’s got all the signs of being a huge success. The interior is impossibly glamorous; a warren of small, interconnected rooms that you enter through hidden mirrored doors and benched corridors. The decor is eclectic – modern green glowing tables contrasting with a huge, sparkling chandelier hanging above. Rooms full of vibrant green lasers, boat-like wooden panelling topped with a ceiling of rippling coloured lights, and UFO style globes embedded over the DJ box. It’s gorgeous, as you would expect from a venue designed by the same team that decorated the likes of Chinawhite. Only concern? The bar area is tiny and the ceilings low – so if you are tall or claustrophobic you may struggle!
The crowd last night was fabulous, a trend which I am sure is set to continue. Boy George was behind the decks, Karen Millen was rumoured to be in attendance and I managed to have a chat with the beautiful Holly Valance about how much she loves the chaos of London, and how much she is enjoying spending time here because “she loves feeling normal in the freak show of things”. Fantastic quote from a gorgeous lady!
All in all, we had a great night. The cocktails were amazing, the crowd friendly and the venue a beautiful addition to the Soho scene.
