Awesome Tour of Sydney – Challenge 1!

Sydney

OK…so due to the operation on Monday, I’m running a lot late on this one, and only have 3 days left to submit a fantabulous and creative idea for this weeks challenge. Ooooh, the pressure!

But, do you know what? I think it will be OK.

Because who have I got on my team? YOU!

So, here are the details for the first challenge on our Awesome Tour of Sydney; Sydney Cricket!

What is it?
Sydney Cricket is a simple game you can play anywhere. All you need to get started is a coin and an idea of the rules, which can be altered to suit any situation.
If you have the chance to mock up a board that’s bonza, or if you just want to make use of beer mats, match sticks or anything else you can lay your hands on then that works too!
The Challenge…
On the next page you’ll find some rules for Sydney Cricket, but don’t get bogged down with them. Your first challenge on the road to winning a trip to New South Wales is to come up with your own cunning variant of Sydney Cricket. It doesn’t have to be cricket-based – remember, the Aussies love their sports and there are good few to choose from on which to base your game. We’ve simply provided you with a starting point to inspire you.
We’re setting no limits to what you can do with this challenge. Creativity will be rewarded, and you’ll have really flex your creative muscles in order to come up with something that will set you on your way to Sydney.

And, here are the basics for the game they came up with as an example…Sydney Cricket….

Standard Rules…..

Players agree amongst themselves the number of ‘overs’ (turns) that are to be played – each ‘over’ giving the player six attempts at scoring ‘runs’ (points). Once agreed, players take it in turns to spin their coin on the playing surface and attempt to score runs. The classic version uses the board below, with players spinning from the centre circle and scoring runs by landing their coin within the rings. If your coin finishes up off the board though, you’re out… Howzat!

NB: If a coin lands between two rings, an umpire’s decision must be sought on where the majority of the coin lies and runs awarded accordingly.

And here are 2 versions of the board….

So my darlings….this is where I shout out for your help. If it sounds complicated I’m sorry – but basically the challenge is to come up with any type of game, loosely based on or relating to a sport that Australians play!

If you have any ideas for a fun, sport related game along these lines, or even totally outside the box…..please get in touch ASAP. It could be something you’ve played in the car, or in the pub, or a family favourite or a drinking game…or just something odd and outrageous that makes you laugh! Time is limited though…I need to submit all ideas by MONDAY.

Remember – this is for a FREE TRIP TO SYDNEY courtesy of the lovely people at NSW tourism and 1000 heads! All ideas received will be put into a hat and the winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to the land of Oz for themselves and a friend. Now that’s what I call an incentive to be creative!

Looking forward to hearing your crazy ideas :)
